Expressing Gratitude

How do you express your gratitude?

Gratitude is an emotion similar to appreciation. The American Psychological Association (n.d.) more specifically defines this phenomenon as a sense of happiness and thankfulness in response to a fortunate happenstance or tangible gift.

“At times, our light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude for those who have lighted the flame within us”… Albert Schweitzer.

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough”– Anonymous

Sometimes, we are faced with many challenges, including burnout, and we think our life is coming to an end. But people always come through for us unexpectedly even when we don’t deserve it.

It is imperative to show gratitude to others whenever they accomplished a favor for us. It is not easy for someone to go out of their way to assist others, especially in difficult times. So always be appreciative.

Be thankful when people do something for you. Use kind words and be positive about it, your attitude is what matters the most. When expressing your gratitude, let it be seen in your attitude. “Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts” — Henri Frederic Amiel.

I express my gratitude by sending gifts and also being physically and emotionally available whenever the person needs me and assisting in any way humanly possible.
