Living In The Moment

Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

What happened in the past should remain in the past, there is nothing we can do to change history. The future is not here yet, I believe we should focus more on the present. The way we live our lives now will determine how our lives will be in the future.

Though I wouldn’t say the thought of the past and the future haven’t come to my mind, the thoughts of what the future holds or will bring. But I got to understand that the more we think about the past and the future, the less we focus on the present. And when we dwell on our past or envision the future, we won’t live our lives to the fullest.

Appreciate the moments when you are in them. In a blink, they are but memories.
Life is too short to live for tomorrow. This moment is all you are promised.

  1. Agree. Your approach to life is the most productive. But there is a dependence of such thoughts on age.
It seems to me that every age tends to think more about one particular time. Childhood and youth are more focused on the future, adulthood and maturity – on the present, and old age – on the past.

  2. Ive found myself spending more time in the past than I’d like to. Then I’ve myself being focused more on the future. What I’ve come to find is that spending time in the past is retrospection, and spending too much time in the future is anticipation. As cliche as it sounds, the present really is the gift.
