Have you ever regretted reading a book — which one and why?
Have you ever regretted reading a book? My answer is NO

I have never regretted reading any book because before I pick up a book to read or buy one, something must have triggered it; it might be the title, the cover, or recommendations. And a glance at the overview will definitely give away what the book is about.
I believe every book is worth reading; books take us to different times and places and introduce us to different kinds of people that we can only imagine and think about.
Though some books can be boring at the beginning, if you are patient enough to keep going, it might turn out to be the best you have ever read.
I love books; I love reading. Just like I crave food, sometimes I crave books as well. I would say it’s what I love doing, and it energises me; it makes me happy and keeps my mind rejuvenated.
“The more you read/learn, the more you realise you know nothing”
“If you don’t read, you are not better than the one who cannot read”

“It is chiefly through books that we enjoy intercourse with superior minds. In the best books, great men talk to us, give us their most precious thoughts, and pour their souls into ours. God be thanked for books. They are the voices of the distant and the dead, and make us heirs of the spiritual life of past ages. Books are true levelers. They give to all who will faithfully use them the society, the spiritual presence, of the best and greatest of our race”.
WILLIAM ELLERY CHANNING
“The world of books is the most remarkable creation of man; nothing else that he builds ever lasts. Monuments fall, nations perish, civilizations grow old and die out. After an era of darkness, new races build other races, but in the world of books are volumes that live on still as young and fresh as the day they were written, still telling men’s hearts of the hearts of men centuries dead”.
CLARENCE DAY
No matter how uninteresting a book might be, there is a message it was meant to deliver, there is a heart it was meant to touch, there is a longing and a gap it was meant to fill. Every book you read is introducing you to a new thing you need to learn or unlearn; every chapter is shifting or refocusing your mindset, your beliefs, your values, your aspirations, and your mentality.
So, to answer this prompt one more time. Have you ever regretted reading a book? My answer is still a big NO 🙂↔️
Craving books the way you’d crave food is a lovely way to put it. And your point about something always triggering the choice — the cover, the title, a recommendation — means you’re rarely reading blind, which probably explains the lack of regret. Slow starts do catch a lot of people out, though; patience pays off more often than not.
I couldn’t agree more, I believe that whatever we desire a lot, we can never get tired of doing it or regret doing it. Thank you for your thoughtful words 🙏
I love this perspective. 🤍 Sometimes even a book we don’t fully enjoy can leave us with something to think about. And I can totally relate to that craving for books! 📚🦋✨
I am so glad that this resonates with you, Nihshab. Thank you for your beautiful words
Sometimes, the books we don’t love can teach us just as much as the ones we adore. 📖✨ Is there a book you didn’t enjoy but still learned something valuable from?
I honestly don’t think I’ve ever regretted reading a book. Even when I didn’t enjoy it, I usually walked away with a lesson, a new perspective, or a better understanding of what I don’t like. 📚❤️ What about you?
